“A distinction which completely sets the Steinway piano apart from all others is that one can play softly on it, yet still produce its supremely glorious, warm, rich tones.”

David M. Ward

It has been said by some that Dr. David M. Ward’s playing is like that of the ‘golden age’ of the piano. That his performances can “make your ears wiggle.” And that to get a true fix on his performance style, one must think of Horowitz, Rubinstein, Paderewski, Gould, and Rachmaninoff.

Born in Central Florida, David M. Ward began playing the piano at age three. He was playing at a professional level by age eight and won a Steinway Grand Piano in competition at age twelve. The recipient of more than 70 scholarship offers, David chose to study on full scholarships in New York City at The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music, as well as in California at the Music Academy of the West. His main teacher in New York City was Gary Graffman, one of only 2 main students of Vladimir Horowitz.

David completed his music academic studies at The University of Southern Mississippi to earn his doctorate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. As a concert pianist, teacher, and coach, he has given Master Classes in addition to all levels of piano instruction. Steinway Artist Dr. David M. Ward has appeared on television, radio, and in concert, including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. He has been accepted for registration as Artist-in-Residency by the State of Florida, Division of Cultural Affairs, and was featured on National Public Radio.
