Jiaying Sunny Li
With boundless passion and energy for classical music and piano performance, the young pianist Sunny Li has been bringing imagination, talent, and dedication to her music world through her renditions of diverse repertoires.
As an active performer, Sunny has graced the stages of Carnegie Hall and Musikverein Wien. Her dynamic presence is highlighted by two solo recitals in Vancouver in 2022 and 2023, as well as three piano concerto performances with the West Coast Symphony Orchestra and the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Sunny was granted the Associate Diploma of the Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT) in Piano Performance in 2022. Her journey in music is furthermore marked with honours from many competitions and festivals. Notably she was awarded First Place at the Pacific Rim International Music Festival North America Regional Final 16-year-old division in July 2024, and Gold Prize Winner in both Senior Group Solo and Concerto Divisions at the Steinway Piano Competition in 2023. Her pursuit of classical music has been enriched by masterclasses with renowned pianists and professors. In addition to solo piano performances, Sunny also has a passion for chamber music. She participated in the Sea to Sky Chamberfest at Vancouver Academy of Music both in 2023 and 2024. Aside from piano, Sunny studies flute, percussion, and composition.
She is also a Gold Medal Recipient of the RCM Flute Level 10 category, and was invited to perform in the RCM Canadian National Celebration of Excellence Recital in Toronto in 2024. Sunny is also very involved in her community through many charity work. Her performances at fundraising concerts and nursing homes bring joy to those who need it most.
